Dear wordpress friends!

Hi, every time I log in here I am surprised to see that people still read my blog! I have not written anything for five months (blogger of the year, right?)

I am logging on right now to ask you a favor, and please read the explanation carefully! Some of you might have read that I go to school right now and that is why I am not blogging a lot.. I am taking a bachelors degree in public health and lifestylechange right now.. And this is where the favor comes in! What I’m Not Gonna Buy, and why!

Hi guys. After watching (ALL) Kimberly Clarks Antihauls I thought I maybe could inspire some of you to think about why you are purchasing makeup and if you really need all the new releases! This is some of the things I am not gonna buy and why.

1. Jaclyn Hill X Morphe

• Price: 38$ + 26$ Shipping to Norway

Where do I start with this palette? First of all I have never supported Morphe. I have been close a couple of times, but after a lot of “drama” channels opened my eyes about this brand I don’t feel like I want to support it. To be completely honest, when I see this palette it is nothing about it that makes me want to buy it. I have almost all of these shades in Makeup Geek singles and I have the KVD Shade & Light eye palette. Don’t need this and I am not gonna buy it

2. Urban Decay Naked Heat

• Price: 54$

This palette is the Jaclyn Hill palette all over again. Warm, orange and neutral shades that I have in all my other palettes. This is even more expensive and since we don’t have Sephora the shipping from the US is insane. I have the UD naked basics and I don’t really like the formula. Not gonna buy…

3. Too Faced Glitter Bomb

• Price: 45$

I have never owned a Too Faced palette. I did think about buying the chocolate palette once, but since we don’t sell Too Faced in Norway the shipping from Sephora is insane again. I don’t think this palette is exciting at all. I have seen so many people use the Too Faced glitter shadows and the fallout is extreme. I have foiled shadows from Makeup Geek and if I want glitter I use loose glitters or pigments. No, Too Faced.

4. Tarte Shapetape

• Price: 25$

I have been tempted to buy this concealer so often in the last few months. A few things are stopping me from clicking BUY. I fell in to the hype about the UD Naked Skin that everyone LOVED, and was disappointed. This is extremely full coverage and some people say that is is drying. I have dry undereyes and fine lines from the start, so I don’t think this is for me. The third thing is the shipping cost which is around 20$… 45$ for a concealer, I don’t think so..

5. Jeffree Star Cosmetics

The infamous Jeffree Star. I have known about him for a long time. I discovered his music in 2008 and loved it actually. My friends and I listened to him a lot. Now I don’t know how I feel about him. I have thought about buying some liquid lipsticks since they launched. But I have not. I think you either love his personality or you get a feeling that something is off about him. I fall into that last category, so I won’t buy from him.

6. Huda Beauty

I did not know who Huda was before she launched her eyeshadow palette last year. When I saw the price my jaw dropped. WHAT? YSL PRICES? I would never buy something from a new brand to that price. And after seeing all the videos about the palette I did not think I missed out on something. If you think you need this and have the Anastasia Modern Renessaince you don’t. I don’t have that one either, but I don’t see any shades in the Huda palette that is worth that price to me.

7. KKW Beauty

Kim, Kim, Kim. I LOVE HER. Even though my favourite Kardashian is Khloe 😉 I have watched all the episodes of KUWTK because I love them. But I do not need more contour in my life. I had the Anastasia original contour kit and gave it away because I thought it was too dry. I have the KVD one and a single contour shade from Makeup Geek. I have enough contour for a life time and think that this launch is 5 years too late. 5 years ago I would have bought it.

8. Kylie Cosmetics

Kylie… Where to start.. I think the people that makes Kylies stuff are in a rush. Every launch is problematic. I feel like the price is too high because of her name. The quality is not good enough to charge the prices that she does. Anyway, not buying..

9 Natasha Denona

Talking about overpriced makeup.. Natasha Denona. I don’t think I have to say much about it really.. NO MAKEUP IS WORTH THAT PRICE. I have all these shades in KVD Shade & Light, MUG, Coastal Scents, Inglot..

10. Milk Makeup

Milk is a brand that does not interest me. Brands that launches purely based on reviews from social media I am a bit sceptical to buy.. The blur stick was ALL THE HYPE a few months ago when all the Youtubers LOVED IT. I don’t see them use it now though.. If I love something I use it up and repurchase it over and over.. So no milk today 😉

Concealer collection, why is fair so hard to do?

Hi guys. I just bought two new concealers yesterday, and then I thought to my self… I have some concealers already, why do I need more? The answer I came up with is that concealer for fair skin is extremely hard to find.. In my experince they are too pink, too grey, too sheer or oxcidizes to a shade of orange that I don’t want under my eyes. I thought I should share my experience with my current concealer collection and what I like and don’t like. For reference, I am alwayst the lightest shade in foundation – or mix with a white mixer if the lightest shade is too dark. If I wore MAC I would be NC10-NC15. I have dry undereyes and fine lines.

1. L.A Girl Pro Conceal

• DO I RECOMMEND? YES! Helps with dark circles perfectly! Easy to blend other concealer on top!

7. NYX HD Photogenic Corrector

• Formula: Liquid, can feel it on the skin

• Finish: Matte

• DO I RECOMMEND? YES, other concealers blend nicely with this. I use it to correct if my foundation or other concealers look to pink on my undereyes.

8. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind

• Shade: Brightener
• Coverage: Medium/Full
• Formula: Liquid, very light on the skin
• Size: 0.2 OZ / 6 ml
• Finish: Matte
• Price: 9.99 $ (Maybelline website)
• Smell: Chemical
• Shade selection: 6 shades (NYX website)
• Creasing: No
• Oxcidizing: No
• Blendability: Very Good!
• Undertone: Pink
• DO I RECOMMEND? YES, this brightens my undereyes like nothing else. Easy to mix with other concealers.

I have ordered the Catrice concealer and that is the next one I will be trying in this endless hunt for the perfect concealer. Most repurchased: NYX HD. Biggest Regret: UD Naked. I also love the Maybelline Fit Me but the fair shade is too dark for me 😦

9$ Dupe for Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette?

As a part of the beauty-community (youtube, facebook, blogs or instagram) you should have heard of the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette by now. If not, you can google it and see what a hype this palette has been since it released last year. I considered bying this so many times but the price for Anastasia here in Norway made me not. FYI – US price: 42$ / Norwegian Price: 65$

I am a member of the What’s up in makeup facebook group (Jen Luv’s Reviews followers) and a girl posted about a cheap palette she found that duped it.

10 minutes later and I had ordered it. The palette is the Irresistible Eyeshadow Palette by Beauty Creations. This is sold on http://www.shophush.com. At 9$ I thought I would give it a shot. Even though ShopHush has a 20$ (!!) International shipping cost the palette is still a lot cheaper than the Anastasia for me. This palette has 15g of product divided in 15 shades compared to the 9,8 g divided in 14 shades in the Anastasia one. I though I should insert comparisons of the pans since I don’t have the MR palette.

Is it a total dupe? NO. But I think that if you want a cheaper alternative, this is actually a good one. The shades in the “dupe” palette is not exactly the same, but when I bought it I had a few thoughts about that. I don’t follow tutorials when I do my makeup so that is not a problem for me. I knew that I wanted some of the colours, maybe not all of them. Buon Fresco was a HUGE reason for why I bought this palette. I also really like the pink and red shade, so that makes the palette worth 9$ for me. If you are looking for the shade range that the MR palette has, but don’t want to pay 42$ this might be for you.

As the swatches show, the shadows are pigmented. They have some fall out but even my KVD shade & light palette has fallout. The two lightest shade does not show up on my arm because they are my skintone (pale girl problems). They have good blendability on the eyes and do not fade on me. Keep in mind I have normal eyelids and no shadows fade that much on me.

Will I recommend this palette? YES – best palette buy for me in a year.

I <3 Makeup Chocolate Palettes.

I decided to write about these three palettes because I feel like I ❤ Makeup (Makeup Revolution) has become more relevant after they launched in the US. I bought these after buying other palettes from this brand which I thought were good. These are supposed to be dupes for the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palettes. PS. when I looked for the prices on TAMbeauty.com I did not find the peach palette, so I am thinking it might have been Limited Edition or it is sold out.

1. I ❤ Makeup Golden Bar Palette

• Shades: 16 shimmers
• Amount: 22 grams
• Price: 12.59 $ /8.99 £ / 93 NOK
• Fave shades: Cocoa & Wrapped

This palette is just shimmers, which mean that I need another palette to put mattes in the crease. But if you are a makeup junkie like me you already have mattes in other palettes 😉 I like this palette, but I feel like they make much smoother and less chunky dark shimmer shadows. The two lightest ones does not really show up and they have a lot of fallout. If you want champagne/white/light pink highlight shimmer shades this palette is not for you. I really like the dark ones though, they perform really good.

2. I ❤ Makeup Salted Caramel Palette

• Shades: 8 mattes and 8 shimmers
• Amount: 22 grams
• Price: 11.18 $ / 7.99 £ / 83 NOK
• Fave shades: Heavenly & Sweet

This is my favourite palette out of the three. I like the mix of mattes and shimmers. The black is actually a really good black. It has some fallout and so does the other matte shades. But for the price these shadows are really smooth. The shimmers are okay. Cake is a glitter duochrome shadow which is more of a topper shade. Delicious SUCKS. This palette is supposed to be a dupe for Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar palette. I don’t have that one since Too Faced is unavailable in Norway so I have not swatched them side by side. But the shades look very similar.

3. I ❤ Makeup Chocolate and Peaches Palette (LE?)

• Shades: 7 mattes and 9 shimmers
• Amount: 22 grams
• Price: Not available on TAMbeauty.com anymore.
• Fave shades: Lush, Peach & Lucious

This is actually my least favourite of the three. I feel like the mattes are the worst in this one. The delicious shade still sucks. Even though Lush does not show up on my arm I actually love this soft pink shade on the lid. I also love peach and lucious in the crease, and for the price I paid for this the palette is worth it for these three shades. This is supposed to be a dupe for Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette. I don’t have that one either. The colours are very similar.

Would I recommend these palettes? YES. I think for the price they are totally worth it. I don’t use all the shades in my palettes anyway. I would never buy the full price Too Faced ones for a few shades, but these are so cheap it is worth it.

Foundations for pale skin! (High end and drugstore)

I have been struggeling for a long time to find foundations for my spesific skintone. I am pale with neutral/yellow undertones. I am going to show you the ones I found that works best for my skintone and skintype (combo/dry). I have struggled with foundation oxidizing after application and nothing is more annoying than that. FYI I live in Europe so the shade names might be different, I will also list the price in $, £ and Norwegian Kroner.

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish

• Shade: 010 Light Porcelain (lightest)
• Coverage: Medium buildable
• Formula: Thick Liquid
• Size: 30 ml / 1 fl oz
• Finish: Satin/Natural
• Price: 11 $/ 8£/ 87 NOK
• Good for: Dry/Normal skin
• Weartime: 8 Hours
• Smell: Strong Perfume smell
• Shade selection: 7 shades (Rimmel website)

I feel like this foundation is such an easy one to wear. I don’t feel like it would last for 25 hours on anyone. I does not set on it’s own (probably because of the comfort serum). But what I like about it is that it does not oxidize, looks natural and it does not make me look any dryer than I already am. Good foundation for the price.

2. EX1 Invisiwear Liquid Foundation

• Shade: 1.0 (lightest)
• Coverage: Light/Medium
• Formula: Thick Liquid
• Size: 30 ml / 1 fl oz
• Finish: Glowy
• Price: 16 $/ 12.50 £/ 135 NOK
• Good for: Dry/Normal skin
• Weartime: 5 Hours
• Smell: Paint
• Shade selection: 13 shades (EX1 website – 14 on looksfantastic)

Even though this is supposed to be the best foundation ever for dry skin I have had a few problems with it. It does not mix well with some of my primers. If I use a smoothing primer it will separate seconds after application. If I use a hydrating primer it will not do this. This has a strong paint smell if you are sensitive to that. It does not oxidize if you have a problem with that and the colour is PERFECT. Not too pink.

3. Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H

• Shade: 005 (lightest)
• Coverage: Medium/Full
• Formula: Thick Liquid
• Size: 30 ml / 1 fl oz
• Finish: Demi-Matte

• Good for: All skin types

This is one of my absolute favourite foundations. I wear this every time I know I have 10-12 hour days. It lasts so good on the skin. BUT it oxidizes a lot. I wish it did not do that, then I would never have to buy another foundation again. Even though it oxidizes it has the best shade selection! You will find a colour that matches you in this line. This is the only matte foundation I like because it does not highlight my dry patches.

4. L.A. Girl Pro Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Foundation

• Shade: Fair (lightest?)
• Coverage: Light/Medium
• Formula: Liquid
• Size: 28 ml / 0.95 fl oz
• Finish: Glowy
• Price: 10 $/ 11 £/ 120 NOK
• Good for: Normal skin
• Weartime: 6 Hours

This foundation makes me comfused. I really don’t like the shade selection, this is the deepest shade of fair I have ever seen. They have 16 shades which are all to dark for me. I think I have the lightest when I look at the pictures of the other shades. This is supposed to be illuminating but it does not make my skin glowy, it makes me look dry. I would not recommend this to anyone really. BUT the white shade is perfect for lightening foundation so I would recommend that one!

My absolute favourite foundation! This makes my face look so light, bright and perfect. You can kind of customize the coverage with this foundation, but you will not get more than medium. It is so blendable and reflects light perfect. Even though it is a glowy foundation it lasts a long time on me with powder and settingspray. I LOVE IT.

My Makeup Collection Pt. 5: Highlighters

Hello lovely blog followers.

I’ve decided to keep doing these makeup collection posts and I hope you like it. Today I am showing you my highlighters and giving you the good, the bad and the glittery! I would not say that highlighters are the most important thing in my collection, but when I looked through my stuff I have a few. I don’t care too much about highlighters so most of these are cheap.

1. I ❤ Makeup: Triple baked highlighter – Goddess of faith

I ❤ Makeup is a sister company to Makeup Revolution. I bought this from http://www.tambeauty.com, and since I live in Europe I bought this long before anyone talked about these on youtube. This highlighter has great pigmentation considering that it is a baked formula. It is not powdery and it suits my skintone great. It can be used as a natural highlight or built up. I do not consider this to be glittery. Price: 6.98 $.

2. TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer

This highlighter is such a youtube made me buy it for me. This is my second one (my first one shattered). Mary-Lou is a staple for any beauty lover and that includes me. The formula is smooth and buttery. This is my most used highlighter and I am planning to pan this in 2017. It is very pigmented and you do not need a lot to glow. Price: 24 $

3. Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter: Golden lights

This is the only Makeup Revolution highlighter I have and it does not make me wanna buy the other ones, unfortunately. This formula is rough and dry and though it is very pigmented it is also glittery. When I ordered it I hoped it would be more golden and less yellow, but as you can see in the swatch it is very yellow based. Do not recommend. Price: 4.20 $

4. Catrice High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder: 010 Light infusion

I would consider this Catrice highlighter as a natural one. It is kind of glittery on me but it is very close to my skintone and I think that is why I see only glitter on my cheeks.  The formula is a bit powdery and dry but works okay. Price: 5€

5. Essence Strobing Highlighter: 10 Let it glow

This is the worst highlighter I have ever tried. When I see the word strobing on the packaging it almost makes me laugh. I inserted an arrow on the swatch picture because the highlighter is almost invisible. I feel like the “shimmer” is an overspray in this product. It is not pigmented, not smooth and very powdery. I do not recommend. Price: 3€

6. L.A. Girl Strobelite Strobing Powder: 110 Watt

I don’t really know how I feel about this highlighter. I feel like it looks silver on my skin, and I am warmtoned so it does not look good. In some lights it looks yellow and in other lights grey. The formula is really good though so I am thinking about getting another colour. These are smooth and creamy with no powder kickup and no glitter. Price: 9$

7. Sleek Highlighting Palette: Solstice

Nikkietutorials made me buy it. I am actually one of the people who does not care for this. I bought it and thought it would be amazing, and it did not impress me. I actually like the cream product the best and it is way to dark for my skin. I have used the light yellow one the most but this got hardpan the first time I tried it and I keep getting it every time. The lilac and peach shade are way to glittery for me. Price: 12.49€

8. Catrice Highlighting Powder: 010 Stardust

This is such a beautiful highlighter. I love the light pink shade. It is not glittery but it is a very powdery formula. It does not last very long on my skin (dry). But even if the lasting power is bad I still like it for the price and the colour. Beautiful highlighter. Price: 5.99$

Fake Fake Fake – why?

The people I grew up wanting to look like were Pamela Anderson and Britney Spears (90’s kid). I loved Britneys body because she looked so fit but I always wanted Pamelas fake boobs. I wanted Victoria Beckham’s lips and J-Lo’s booty. When I look at young girls on facebook today, I feel just the same way as I did when I was 12. WHY does all the girls in their teens try to look like Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner when it’s obvious that they paid someone to look like they do?

Believe me, I love the Kardashians and I watch all the episodes of their show. I am not writing this to say it’s their fault. They just do as everybody else wants to do. I am just wondering why young girls asks me about makeup that will make their lips look like Kylie’s lips. Or girls in the gym who ONLY do butt excersises because they want Kim’s butt. They might get really depressed when the results don’t meet their expectations.

Another thing that makes me angry are all the waist trainers out there. These are just examples, I know a LOT of people that are sponsored to show these on instagram. But what about the doctors who say that these will damage your organs? How about breathing instead? When did the ideal body type in the world become HUGE boobs, THE SMALLEST waist you can accomplish and HUGE butt? It’s the most unnatural thing in the world! And I am never gonna get this huge butt. I have the smallest hips, so it’s a lost cause..

I think our Instagram generation makes us see flaws that we have never seen in ourselves before. And that is not healthy. Fake is not healthy! That’s why I need some new role models in my life, and maybe you should think about getting som new beauty inspiration too. Here are mine:

Kate Winslet is one of the most beautiful women I know. She is against the Size 0 pressure in Hollywood. I think she is GORGEOUS.

Lena Dunham is just amazing. She is herself one way or another. She is successful and shows any young girl that size does not matter.

Demi Lovato was struggeling with an eating disorder but is now healthy and happy. I think she looks amazing.
